Google Business Profile or a German website for entering Germany?

Short answer: a profile helps a German prospect discover where and when you can be reached. A German website explains what you do, where you deliver or work, why the offer fits and what happens after an enquiry.

Use both for different jobs. Do not replace a real German market explanation with a profile, and do not invent a German branch to appear local. Keep the facts true and make the next step easy to understand.

1. Two surfaces answer two different questions

Search and Maps are useful when someone asks where is this business, is it open and how do I reach it? A profile can present the verified name, category, hours, phone, website and, where appropriate, an address or service area. It is a fast discovery layer.

The website answers the deeper question: is this offer a good fit for my German project, purchase or visit? It can explain applications, capacity, delivery, team, process, evidence, limits and the right route to contact or booking.

2. What a German prospect needs from a company abroad

German language alone is not localisation. A German visitor should be able to identify the actual company and the practical conditions of working with it.

  • Real company location, languages, service or delivery area and contact person.
  • Offer pages written around applications and decisions, not a word-for-word catalogue.
  • Evidence such as genuine certifications, technical documents, projects or photographs with a clear scope.
  • Practical information on lead times, access, shipping, booking or on-site service where relevant.
  • A German enquiry, reservation or booking route that says what information is useful and what happens next.

3. Choose the route by business model

Suppliers and manufacturers usually need product, application, capacity, delivery region and RFQ content. Technical and project businesses need method, qualifications, service area, project stages and a guided request. Hotels and restaurants need German information about rooms, menus, location, arrival and the existing booking or reservation system. Professional services need people, expertise, scope and a credible first contact.

The same technical foundation can support these routes, but the content and visual emphasis should reflect the decision a German visitor is making.

4. Keep the facts consistent

Use the same real business name, phone, domain, opening times and service-area wording wherever the company appears. If you operate from Poland, Czechia, Italy, France, the Netherlands or Denmark, say so. Explain how German customers are served rather than copying a German address into a profile.

Structured data can help search systems interpret visible organisation or local-business information. It should describe facts that are actually shown and true for the business; it is not a promise of a particular search result.

Practical checklist

  • Define the first German audience: buyer, partner, guest or service customer.
  • Write a one-sentence German answer to what you offer and where you operate.
  • Show real proof with context, not unsupported quality claims.
  • Connect the profile to the relevant page, not only to a generic home page.
  • Test the German form, booking link, phone link and mobile layout.
  • Review hours, service area and contact details whenever they change.

Questions companies ask

Do we need a .de domain?

No. A .de domain can fit a dedicated German operation, but the domain ending cannot replace clear content, accurate facts and a reliable enquiry path.

Can a service-area company abroad use a profile?

Only according to the real business model and current Google policy. Do not publish an address or branch that does not exist. Describe the actual region and route to service truthfully.

Does this guarantee German leads?

No. A clearer route can improve understanding and create a stronger technical foundation. Demand, competition, offer, follow-up and market fit still determine what happens.
